On this day, July 13, in 2015, Sandra Bland, a 28-year-old Black woman, was found hanging in a jail cell in Waller County, Texas.
Sandra Bland graduated from Prairie View A&M University, a historically Black institution in Waller County. She was returning there from her home in Chicago. She was happy about going back to reunite with old friends & take up a new job. But after she turned onto the drive leading to the campus, she was pulled over by a Texas state trooper, Brian Encinia. He claimed she hadn’t used a turn signal to change lanes. Within moments, Encinia brutalized & mocked Sandra Bland. He threatened her with his Taser and snarled, “Get out of the car! I will light you up! Get out! Now!” He dragged her out of her car and threw her on the ground. He arrested her & charged her with felony assault on an officer.
Police & prosecutors worked feverishly to cover up the truth about Sandra Bland’s arrest, time in their custody, and the circumstances of her death. They charged her with being the aggressor. They released an obviously tampered video of the jail cell they held her in. They declared the cell to be a “crime scene,” but then allowed reporters to trample through it. They claimed Sandra was “suicidal,” but did nothing to provide medical attention. No testimony of what were claimed to be interviews of jail personnel was ever released to Sandra Bland’s lawyers. Her friends and family, with whom she had been in steady communication, were not called to testify to the grand jury investigating the case. Her DNA was not found on the cloth around her neck. Jail logs were falsified.
Sandra Bland’s family and thousands of people across the country refused to accept the official story. The fight for justice for Sandra Bland became a cornerstone of the fight to end murder and brutality of Black people by police.
Sandra Bland’s death, and the coverup by authorities was the system at work—a system in which white supremacy and police brutality are integral components. A system which has no right to exist. A system which cannot be reformed—and must be overthrown at the soonest possible time.

Si bien la guerra rusa contra Ucrania capta la atención del mundo, el Ejército Popular de Liberación de China es un estudioso particular de las operaciones y estrategias desplegadas en el conflicto actual. El estudio de China de las tácticas militares extranjeras no es nuevo: la Guerra del Golfo de 1991 tuvo un efecto seminal en las opiniones chinas sobre la tecnología en la guerra, lo que estimuló la modernización militar. Los conflictos posteriores también han dado lugar a debates, ya veces reformas, con el objetivo de asimilar lecciones para preparar mejor a las fuerzas armadas de China para luchar y ganar.
Mientras los ejércitos ruso y ucraniano luchan en Europa, ¿qué lecciones están sacando los estrategas, tácticos y planificadores chinos para el futuro de China? Únase a nosotros para una conversación moderada entre tres de los observadores más mordaces de las fuerzas armadas chinas.

Charles W. Hooper (Ejército de EE. UU., jubilado) se desempeñó como director senior de política de China y Taiwán en la Oficina del Secretario de Defensa, agregado de defensa de EE. UU. en China y director adjunto de estrategia en el Comando del Indo-Pacífico de EE. UU. Hooper es un académico no residente en el Programa Carnegie Endowment Asia.
Bonny Lin es investigador principal de seguridad asiática y director del Proyecto de Energía de China en el Centro de Estudios Estratégicos e Internacionales. Anteriormente, estuvo en RAND Corporation. También se desempeñó en la Oficina del Secretario de Defensa de 2015 a 2018, donde fue directora para Taiwán, directora de país para China y asesora principal para China.
Joel Wuthnow es investigador sénior en el Centro para el Estudio de Asuntos Militares Chinos en la Universidad de Defensa Nacional y profesor adjunto en el Programa de Estudios de Seguridad en la Universidad de Georgetown.
MODERADOR
Evan A. Feigenbaum es vicepresidente de estudios en Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, donde supervisa la investigación en Washington, Beijing y Nueva Delhi en una región dinámica que abarca tanto el este como el sur de Asia.

Buenos días a todos.
La fiesta no termina.
Ahora sale ? Empresas privadas que se instalan con el beneplácito de los gobiernos de turno .
Usando técnicas mafiosas , sin contribuir y explotando a los trabajadores .
Es novedad ? No , nuestros taxistas llevan años soportando su implantación forzosa , a quien beneficia ? A los nuestros desde luego no .
Como siempre , ha tenido que ser una investigación privada , salta a los medios , porque España ? Es lo lógico política corrupta todo vale .
En Málaga faltan licencias , los asalariados no aguantan más , los usuarios de movilidad reducida, con un servicio nefasto por falta de coches adaptados , un mínimo de media hora de espera para poder moverse por la ciudad , el descanso del personal que no llega , graves agresiones a los taxistas asalariados , desde el 2011 una normativa aprobada que no llega , los pillos ganan .
En esto como en todo vale más el que más tiene , contratos en precario , explotación humana , mujeres esclavizadas , a bombo y platillo , se desarticula una banda , nunca se detiene al que hace uso y abuso de esas mujeres , sus nombres nunca salen , la ley de la oferta y la demanda ? .
Tú a la calle , los bancos y fondos buitre con tu casa , empresas de dudosa legalidad son contratadas , una pregunta , como cotizan a la seguridad social ? Cuál es su contrato ? .
Acoso , amenazas incluso agresiones , se implanta la ley del más fuerte ? .
Todo esto da mucho que pensar , tú silencio les ha dado paso , políticos que sin ningún rubor dan a entender, que si no has estudiado cómo vas a pagar una casa , esa es la escusa ? .
Cada día más me avergüenza este sistema, amparado por una constitución , que se incumple , pero siempre para el eslabón más débil y protege a quienes manejan la cadena.
Piensa , reacciona , toma parte , tú eres el esclavo y ellos tienen el látigo .
POR MI TIERRA POR MI GENTE LOS QUE LUCHAN CADA DIA POR VIVIR DIGNAMENTE
