After the War of the Thousand Suns, humans were sent to the dinosaur oasis, called Earth. A place that succumbed to the war, and is surrounded by a great wall of ice. There, humans will pay their sentence for trying to conquer the universe.
All other species agreed to lock up humans, make them forget everything about the technology they created, and force them to change their nature. However, twelve thousand years have passed and humans continue in their endless quest for power.
Humans rediscovered the secrets of creation; continuing their lack of understanding for an existence with enough. Thus, as in generations past, Novarius━the Universal Consul━decided that it was too dangerous to let humans follow their path. That day a new reboot of knowledge began for humanity.
In a desperate attempt, the members of Novarius met to find a solution to the ongoing human situation.
“We should exterminate them,” Shetog said.
“It has been done by our ancestors,” Zerto said. “You know it’s impossible.”
“Damn things,” Merthy said, clenching his fist.
“It amazes me how easy it is for them to find an unlimited source of energy,” Shetog said. “Always doing it in a slightly different way.”
“Their intelligence is unmatched,” Merthy said. “We’re going to have to leave only two of them alive.”
“I’m tired of this cycle,” Zerto said.
“Aren’t we all,” Shetog said. “I don’t see any other solution. Many of them are suspicious of the theories we have implanted in their society.”
“Before long they will begin to explore the universe beyond the wall of ice that encloses them,” Merthy said.
“We have to stop them,” Zerto said. “We all know what happens if they are left uncontrolled for a second cycle.”
“A little more than one hundred years for Aquarius to begin,” Merthy said.
“It’s sad that we have to make this decision,” Shetog said. “We have to destroy the knowledge that humans have developed.”
Humans believed that the universe existed beyond the heavens, when the blue-blooded invaders reached the great ice wall that surrounds the Earth.
The captain was about to turn away from the icy waters of the Eighth Sea when he saw the blue-skinned men approaching the shores of the great ice wall.
“Captain…” Jostas said.
“I see them,” Ivan Three Eyes said, holding his spyglass telescope.
“Are they coming for us?” Jostas asked.
“Don’t worry,” said the captain, then grabbed one of the blue metal bars in his bag. They must want their treasure back.
Ivan, the captain of the Land Lover, pulled out the bar and prepared to throw it at the blue-skinned beings that appeared on the edge of the great wall of ice. To his surprise, Ivan felt the weight and thickness of the bar slightly shift in his hand. What is this? he wondered, turning to notice that he had a javelin in his hand. Impossible.
The captain thought of a sword and the javelin transformed into a broad-bladed sword. Ivan couldn’t believe what was happening.
“What was that?” Jostas asked, surprised.
“It’s nothing,” Ivan said, transforming the sword into a small dagger and putting it in his bag. “Take us to Sapphire island. I’ll be in my cabin.”
Jostas raised an eyebrow. “Fine.”
Immediately, Ivan went to his cabin. He closed the door and pulled out the two blue metal bars to uncover their secrets. He transformed them into swords, then struck a wooden column with one of them. The impact made his arm jerk before the force threw him to the ground. Ivan hit his head when he fell and was knocked unconscious.
A few hours later. After the Land Lover rached Sapphire island. After the entire crew of the ship got off to enjoy the mainland. Ivan regained consciousness.
The pain in his body was inexplicable. The two metal bars were on the ground. He finally got up, grabbed the bars and shoved them into his bag. Then, he went out to find the empty Land Lover docked.
Ivan quickly noticed that night was approaching and that the torches on Sapphire island were already lit. How long was I out? he thought, holding his head.
Ivan left the ship and went straight to the tavern. He was sure to find his crew; just as he imagined, most of them were drinking.
“Captain,” Apolinios said. “We have been informed of missing ships.”
“Those blue-skinned beings must be behind this,” said Joatas.
Ivan remembered the force of the explosion caused by one of the bars stolen from the blue-skinned beings. “It must be a coincidence.”
Ivan sat on a chair next to Sherina, just before Jostas arrived with a mug of beer for him.
“It’s too much of a coincidence,” Grimoul said.
“You shouldn’t have stolen those things,” Tledine said.
“What do you know about that?” asked the captain, and took a drink of beer.
“There are rumors,” said Apolinios. “Some pirates have been attacked by blue metal ships.”
Ships, thought the captain.
“Those beings are looking for the bars,” Tledine said, pointing at the captain.
“No one asked your opinion, Tledine,” said the captain. “Anyway, we appreciate your services guiding us in the snow. Now we have a private matter to discuss. It has been a pleasure working with you.”
Tledine fell silent, trying to understand the magnitude of the message. Then he took his mug and got up from the table. “It has been my pleasure working for you, Captain.”
“Get out of here,” Grimoul said, dismissing Tledine’s with her arm.
“We have to find out what is going on before making a decision,” said the captain. “For now, we should toast to a successful mission.”
The pirates toasted and drank, forgetting the troubles of an unforeseen future. Until another member of Ivan’s crew entered the tavern.
“Captain,” Jezebeth said. “There is a blue metal ship approaching Jones’.”
Ivan got up and slowly looked at everyone who was with him at the table. “Walk in order behind me.”
The pirates followed Ivan, while he chatted with Jezebeth. “I thought these ships were a myth,” said the captain.
“They are about to intercept Jones’ ship,” Jezebeth said.
Ivan reached into his bag for the spyglass.
“That way, captain,” Jezebeth said, once they reached the highest point of the island.
Ivan brought the telescope to his eye and was surprised. He pushed it away to look at the artifact, it was one of the blue metal bars. The captain noticed how much it resembled his spyglass and looked through it again.
The image was incredible. Ivan could see perfectly what was happening.
The ship of the blue-skinned beings was rapidly approaching Jonas’ ship. Its speed was inexplicable. Ivan couldn’t believe his eyes. The ship was blue; just like the metal bar that became a telescope.
Finally, the blue metal ship reached Jonas’ and without warning opened fire. Cannonballs destroyed the hull and gunport in seconds. Leaving the pirates shipwrecked. Not before Jonas shot one of the blue-skinned beings.
“We have to help them,” Apolinios said.
“Send rescue boats,” said the captain. “We can’t risk sailing the Land Lover until we know the blue-blooded beings are gone. Prepare the island defenses. This is going to be a long night.”
